They are showing a whale as an inspiration... but did anybody even remotely think what will happen to an actual whale AND the ship in case of a collision? No maritime operator in the world wants to lose a cargo vessel in the middle of the ocean because of such an accident that is guaranteed to happen.

Vertical arrangement is clearly the correct first step, but could these be mounted at an angle on a Ver Hull to minimize draft. Also, in this configuration, couldn't the system also serve as anti-roll stabilizers?

This is simply cycloidal propellers with a literal slight twist on it and removing the circular end that made it safer. Even if it would cause drag for these it could instead be a ring connecting the tips to make it safer when reversing in case you run into the ground a dock or a ship. I suppose this would be more underneath the boat instead of sticking out similar to how a jet would be? Of course if any propeller like this hits a living thing nothing will save it at that speed so that's a non issue for the most part unless your nearing the size a whale.

This turbine should be covered in half, just as VAWT to improve efficiency and reduce cetacean harming, also covered with some nets for the same cetacean safety As I said in other post it can be powered by a VAWT vertical wind turbine directly attached to the shaft of this voight propulsion system, so no combustion or electricity needed and without wind it can be powered by concentrated solar heliostat steam desalination system moving a vortex heat tower turbine to power this turbine But again any small sailboat can move all cargo in the world if there were enough sailboats made with natural materials and no engines And today cargo transportation is excess aberration so it should be a 0.000001% of today's unnecessary mining, consumption merchandise, food transportation, etc

Isn't this just the latest version of the Voith Schneider system? Tug boats have been using this for years. You can maneuver without the need for a rudder. But it does have some drawbacks.

It's a variation with more efficient turbine and independent rotation of blade to improve propulsion just as sails do to points of wind There are some VAWT vertical wind turbines that have this blade rotation that acts like a sail changing orientation to obtain more propulsion Also in VAWT half of turbine can be covered to reduce drag and maybe in this turbine too All propellers and turbines harm cetaceans, they should be covered with nets

Is it really evolution, a process based on chance, that has given the whale this optimal characteristic? What we observe in evolution is a process of devolution by mutations (introduction of errors in the DNA code by chance), and DNA codes the fins, this let mean that an optimisation of the fins is a fairy tale. On the other side, epigenetics is an kind of process that is coded and that can increase/decrease the efficiency, but it doesn't produce new information.
